THE SIGN OF THE CROSS: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE
ACT OF CONTRITION [OPTION 1]
O MY GOD! I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good, and deserving of my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Amen.

[ENGLISH VERSION]: I confess to Almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Michael the Archangel, to blessed John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, to all the Saints, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word and deed, [strike your breast thrice in token of contrition] through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I beseech the blessed Mary ever Virgin, blessed Michael the Archangel, blessed John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, all the Saints, to pray to the Lord our God for me.
May almighty God have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and bring us unto life everlasting. Amen.
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon, absolution, and remission of our sins. Amen.
GOSPEL CANTICLE: Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace. + Now, Master, you let your servant go in peace. You have fulfilled your promise. My own eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all peoples. A light to bring the Gentiles from darkness; the glory of your people Israel. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. + [Minor Doxology "Glory be..."] + Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace.PRAYER TO ONE'S GUARDIAN ANGEL: Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom His love commits me here, ever this night [day] be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
PROTECTION: Before the day is finished, Creator of the world, we earnestly ask of Thee that, in keeping with Thy mercy, Thou be our protector and defense. May no "ill dreams", no "nightly fears and fantasies" come near us. Hold in check our enemy that our bodies be not defiled. Grant this, most loving Father and Thou, the only Son, Equal to the Father and, with the Spirit, the Paraclete, reigning through the ages. Amen.
Visit, we beseech Thee, O Lord, this habitation, and drive far from it all snares of the enemy: Let Thy holy Angels dwell herein, who may keep us in peace; and let Thy blessing be always upon us. Through Our Lord. Amen.
BLESSING: May the all-powerful Lord grant us a restful night and a peaceful death. Amen.
THE SIGN OF THE CROSS: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
