“God forbid that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world is crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; what matters is being a new creature. And whosoever shall follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them all.” – Galatians 6:14-16
THE NAME “Transitus Oblates of the Last Martyrdom” is the association’s identification with Christ’s crucifixion, death, and resurrection, and their obedience to Our Lord’s command to pick up their own cross and follow Him. Oblates should be troubled about nothing except this all-encompassing Rule.
It is their identification with the Church’s Liturgy as the source, center, and summit of the Christian life––a life of true devotion, total consecration, self-sacrifice, and co-redemption––and their vocation as spiritual “spouses” and “mothers” of Jesus Christ, the Eternal and Sovereign High Priest and Infant King.
It is their identification with their patron Saint Francis (Il Poverello) “the Little Poor Man” of Assisi, who bore the sacred Stigmata (the five wounds of Christ) and who shows them the Way of the Cross (Via Crucis) as the narrow path to perfection and salvation, and the itinerant model of Christ-like service to others.
